Engineering Scotland’s Calendar of Events is an omnibus of the Event Calendars of all its members.  The events are usually open to all members of Engineering Scotland. To see the calendar, click EVENTS, above.

Philip W Thomas Award

The Award, first presented in 2011, is named after our first Chairman. It is presented, not more than annually, to the person deemed to have contributed to Engineering Societies or to Engineering in Scotland.

Nominations for the next award should be sent to the secretary. This is an ideal opportunity to honour those who have given years of dedicated service to your institution without thought of reward.

Engineering Scotland AGM

Wednesday, 2014 May 7 @ 17:30 for 18:00

The ES AGM will be held in the Teacher Building, Glasgow. Any individual members may attend and contribute but only each Secretary (or delegate) from member institutions can vote. Details here.

The Road Ahead Prestige Lecture 2014

Why did the Scottish Enlightenment happen

…  and could it happen again?

The renowned Scottish Enlightenment of the eighteenth century emerged from a small country which, on the face of it, was both poor and disadvantaged. The first part of the lecture will try to resolve this apparent paradox.

The second part will take a more speculative approach. With some comparative references back to the glory days of the Enlightenment itself, the question will be posed: Does modern Scotland have any of the preconditions for a new `hotbed of genius`?

This event is FREE but Registration is required. Click to Register.
