152 years of Maxwell’s Equations
8 March 2017 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeArguably Maxwell’s Equations unified existing knowledge regarding electro-statics, and magnetism, together with a key novel prediction, that of electro-magnetic (EM) waves.
Interestingly, the receiver used by Hertz used UV illumination and he was one of the first to identify the photoelectric effect, which led to Einstein’s introduction of electromagnetic quanta and the idea of a photon,
which in turn modified the classical view of EM radiation being a pure wave!
The authors are well placed to discuss applications of Maxwell’s equations, in the course of which no equations will be derived, manipulated, or otherwise tortured.
