An introduction to corrosion & cathodic protection

Join the Tayside and Fife Area Branch in Dundee to learn more about cathodic protection (CP).
The presentation will give an overview of the chemistry and physics of corrosion and how this applies to steel in concrete. It will then discuss how Cathodic Protection can be used to address the issue and will discuss the pros and cons of the technique.
The technical aspects will be supported by case study references to the long-standing CP system installed at the Tay Road Bridge.
The talk will also cover the various procurement considerations for CP including the large variety of products, approaches & suppliers on the market and when each might be most suitable.
