Backroom Skills

9 October 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The success of industrial projects depends, of course, on the effective application of many factors including the business case, the specification, the cost estimate, the schedule, the execution plan, and the execution itself – all in accordance with all of the above!

That requires the technical expertise of those involved in Project Control.

However, technical expertise is not enough – it is also vital to be able to interact, on a personal basis, with the client, the whole project team and with company management above the project team. This requires a range of personal skills which are rarely addressed in the educational process.

This talk (based on a series of articles being published in “Project Control PROFESSIONAL”) discusses those “Back-room Skills” which are required to be in the toolkit of all those involved in executing projects but, in particular, those involved in Project Control. It covers the stages of winning and understanding the job, doing the job and managing yourself, managing others, and managing senior management.
