Animation for the Entertainment Industry
10 April 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Synopsis: Axis Animation creates visual storytelling in many diverse forms, including game-trailers and in-game animation, VFX and animation for television in film, as well as theme-park content and VR experiences. Supporting this slate of productions is a studio pipeline that must be flexible, robust and scalable. In this talk, Jason Fairley (Axis Animation’s Head of R&D) will discuss the past, present and future of developing software in Axis’ production environment.
Speaker: Jason joined Axis with over ten years’ worth of film making and visual effects experience and has previously held senior roles at Lucasfilm Animation, Dr D Studios, Animal Logic and Double Negative. Jason’s background as a technical artist ensures he is fluent in pipeline and tools development for feature film production and he combines this with a background in mathematics research (PhD). Jason’s day-to-day role at Axis is to manage and plan ongoing R&D projects with a view to meeting strategic goals within suitable time-frames and budget. Jason has grown and developed the R&D team through a process of continual evaluation and mentoring. |
