Brodick ferry terminal redevelopment
30 March 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
FreeThe redevelopment of the ferry terminal at Brodick on the Isle of Arran will provide lifeline ferry services and support the economic development of Arran creating a 21st Century facility which will be sustainable, reliable and efficient to operate and maintain.
The scheme proposes to enhance the island economy, boost passenger capacity, and sustainably replace ageing infrastructure. The new terminal will support additional sailings and larger vessels to berth in a wide range of weather conditions. The facilities which are partially constructed on reclaimed land comprise a 120m long pier, a new linkspan and fixed berth, a new terminal building with passenger access system, improved marshalling facilities, a new bus terminal and parking facilities.
The presentation will cover:
- Need for such an investment and regulatory regime under which project funding and approval was granted
- Master planning, consenting and design stages
- Construction challenges associated with such a development in a ‘live’ Port on an island location.
