End of Year Celebration Event with Paul de Leeuw and Martyn Tulloch
18 December 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
We warmly invite you to the IMechE Aberdeen Area’s Annual End of Year Event! Join us for a festive Christmas buffet, networking, and insights from two leading voices in the energy sector.
The evening will feature talks from Professor Paul de Leeuw and Martyn Tulloch, who will explore major developments in the UK’s energy landscape and the technologies driving the transition to net zero.
Paul, Director of RGU’s Energy Transition Institute, will discuss how recent international events—such as the US elections and COP29—impact the UK’s offshore energy sector. Drawing on his extensive experience, Paul will share his perspective on how these shifts influence policy and opportunities within the energy transition.
Martyn, Director of Energy Transition at the Net Zero Technology Centre, will provide insights into the Centre’s latest projects, including advancements in hydrogen production, CO2 import infrastructure, and offshore wind innovations. His talk will highlight how these initiatives support the UK’s move toward a low-carbon future.
Each speaker will follow their presentation with a Q&A, offering attendees a chance for in-depth discussion on these crucial topics.
To wrap up, Nick Graves, Chair of IMechE Aberdeen Area, and James Watt, Aberdeen Young Members Chair, will provide an overview of this year’s events and share a look ahead to 2025, including exciting plans from the Aberdeen Young Members Panel. Steve Cromar, Immediate Past Chair, will conclude the evening.
