FemEng Programme in Rwanda
17 April 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Professor Briggs will talk about the University’s partnerships with institutions in Africa and introduce the FemEng Team. He is Clerk of Senate and Vice-Principal at the University of Glasgow and has over 35 years’ experience of research in poverty reduction in Africa.
The FemEng programme was established by a group of female engineering students at the University of Glasgow to work in collaboration with their counterparts at the University of Rwanda in Kigali to encourage schoolchildren to consider careers in science, engineering and entrepreneurship. Last year was the team’s second visit to Rwanda, during which the programme successfully delivered talks and interactive workshops to over a 1,000 school students (more than double the number in 2016). This evening the members of the team will outline their plans to visit Rwanda in summer 2018 and talk about the successes and challenges of the programme during the previous two visits.
