Fire Engineering – an introduction for structural engineers
22 May 2018 @ 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Recent tragic events have brought a renewed focus on the need for all construction industry professionals to fully understand their role in contributing to the overall fire safety of buildings.
This will be a comprehensive seminar on fire engineering, aimed at practising structural engineers, presented by one of the UK’s foremost experts in structural fire engineering, Professor Roger Plank.
Roger will describe the principles of fire engineering and describe the behaviour of common structural materials and members. This seminar will cover questions of specification, how to calculate fire resistance of structural elements, examples of how real structures perform in fire and developments in advanced design methods.
This seminar is expected to be of interest and relevance to all members involved in the design, construction, assessment, and/or SER certification of building structures.
