STAGE 1 – CONCRETE PRACTICE is an industry-recognised entry-level qualification in practical
concreting awarded by The Institute of Concrete Technology. It is a formal certificate in
recognition of mastering the basic objectives of activities in the concrete industry.
This one-day seminar outlines the aims, objectives and content of the ICT syllabus with discussions
on key topics and culminating in a practice exam.
Designed for those with experience of working in the concrete industry such as; technicians,
operatives, batch plant supervisors, sales and distribution staff and concrete mixer
operators/drivers, to achieve a formal certificate in recognition of their success in mastering the
basic objectives of activities in the concrete industry. Key topics include: concrete constituents,
producing, transporting, handling and placing, concrete construction applications, sampling,

Registration at 09:15 and will close at approximately 16:00. The seminar includes a free copy of
the Concrete Society publication Concrete Practice. A full copy of the presentation will be available
electronically to those attending.
Exam registration and administration
The Stage 1 multi-choice examination is held on Wednesday 7 th December 2022 (1.5hrs duration),
starting at 11.00hrs at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel, Glasgow. ICT examination registration has an
associated fee of £50 (VAT not applicable) via ICT Exam
Seminar Booking
Fee: £120 (Concrete Society members) +VAT or £155 (non-Concrete Society members) +VAT. An
invoice will be issued upon receipt of the booking. At least 7 days’ notice is required for full refund.
Late cancellation refund at the discretion of the Society.
