IET Scotland Annual Dinner

The dinner is a leading engineering and technology networking event, meet other industry and engineering institutions guests, network and hear our keynote speakers, including the IET President Professor Jeremy Watson.

Programme

Paul Winkle is the Station Director at Torness power station and Scotland Business Development Director. 


Paul was born in Edinburgh and went to school at the Edinburgh Academy.  He received an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Glasgow University.


Paul joined GEC Alstom as a graduate trainee before joining the Engineering Division of EDF Energy in Scottish Nuclear (East Kilbride) in 1996 as a senior engineer covering both of the company’s Scottish stations – Hunterston B and Torness.
His first management role was Maintenance Manager at Torness in 2002.   In 2006 he became acting plant manager at Hunterston B. He then joined Torness as plant manager later on in 2006.  Paul was promoted to Station Director at Heysham 2 in Lancashire in 2008 and took up his current role at Torness in July 2009.   In October 2017 he was, in addition to the role of Station Director, appointed to role of Scotland Business Development Director. 

Paul is a respected leader in the energy industry with a wide breadth of experience. He also sits on the EDF Energy Company Makers steering group and is actively involved in supporting new industry research with education bodies.
