Innovations of the Transmission Network

21 March 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The UK energy and power sector has undergone dramatic changes over the last decade in order meet its low carbon agenda. Currently UK targets to achieve CO2 reduction on 1990 levels by 50% ahead of 2030 and 80% by 2050. A major step towards achieving this target has been a change in UK’s generation and demand profile. We have witnessed closure of large conventional generation plants and a stronger emphasis on renewable generation and electrification of demand.  GB power sector has embraced these changes by addressing the resulting challenges through innovation. Innovation that has been largely supported by GB regulator and is delivered through collaboration between GB utilities, academia, industry partners and policy makers. The presentation will go through the concept of innovation and what it means to do things differently to manage uncertainties of the future, to enhance sustainability and deliver greater  value to GB customers
