Leadership – the project professional’s secret weapon
8 February 2024 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
“I’m a Project Manager”.
That’s often what we tell family, friends and peers when asked what we do. But is it really a fair description? It may well be our role title, but it probably doesn’t convey a lot of what we actually do.
This presentation and discussion is about going beyond the frameworks, processes and stereotypes associated with project management and exploring the leadership roles we all in fact perform.
“I provide leadership focused on delivering projects and change for organisations”
This event will explore the leadership traits and qualities of Project Managers and those working within the project management profession.
A presentation will be delivered that is intended to provoke thought and discussion. Attendee participation and input into this discussion is encouraged.
The purpose of the session is to:
- Explore the work we do in the project management profession that goes beyond delivery frameworks, processes and templates
- Consider our role in leading people and how this impacts the likelihood of success
- What makes a great project leader
- Leadership challenges we can face in project management
The outcomes attendees should expect include:
- Greater insight into the leadership qualities possessed by project management professionals
- Increased confidence in explaining to others their leadership experience and abilities and how they relate to a project environment
- Shared understanding and appreciation of the leadership challenges we each face
- Tools and techniques to exploit leadership opportunities and effectively deal with leadership challenges.
The discussion will be focused on areas such as:
- The makings of an effective leader in project management
- The internal vs external leader
- Developing project leadership skills and experience
