Putting CDM 2015 in context for Structural Engineers

15 May 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

We all know construction accidents are too high but health is the new focus. Every year, the construction sector loses 1.2 million days to work-related ill health such as musculoskeletal disorders; stress, anxiety and depression; and skin or respiratory conditions.

Liz Bennett will explain the principles behind CDM 2015 and how they affect the structural engineer.

She will look at the role and responsibilities of ‘Principal Designer by default’ on domestic projects.

Liz will explain the aspects/overlap between the HSE focus on CDM Clients and Designers and their focus on health including the HSE “Tracking back” and “Fees for Intervention”.

Liz will answer the question “What should structural engineers do now?”

Liz is happy to take questions and to refine the focus according to attendees needs, discussing for instance Design Risk Management, levels of engagement of the structural engineer in a complex supply chain eg Temporary Works, BIM and more.

There will be information provided about where to source further free information.
