SS Uganda: from East Africa to the Falklands

Speaker: Paul Strathdee

A review of the career of the Barclay Curle built British India Line’s passenger ship which, after withdrawal from the East Africa service became the much loved Schools’ Educational Cruise Ship, Hospital Ship and troopship during and after the Falklands Campaign.

Paul is a former member of the SS Uganda Society and has been interested in Clyde built ships and shipyards from an early age. He is currently Chairman of the Clyde Shiplovers’ Society in Glasgow and a member of the World Ship Society.
