The Aerodynamic Design of Aircraft and Racing Cars
7 March 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
An explanation of why aeroplanes and racing cars are the shape they are and the physics behind their increasing efficiency. The talk will look at such
things as the high-lift devices which help aircraft get off the ground but
also help Formula 1 cars stay firmly on the ground. It will also look
at the ways that aerodynamic design has been used to improve the trade-off
between speed and fuel consumption.
Speaker: Andrew Rae (University of the Highlands & Islands)
