The future of Scotland’s space sector
26 March @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Hear the importance of Scotland’s space sector to the economy, society, and tackling climate change.
Scotland is a world leader in satellite production and an emerging key player in space initiatives. The sector has been identified as a key driver of economic growth, and Scotland has the potential to become a leading space nation.
From small satellite manufacturing to using data and new technologies to support biodiversity, the space industry can have a meaningful impact on protecting the planet and vulnerable communities from the effects of climate change.
Space sustainability is a key focus area of the Scottish Space Strategy, which aims to capitalise on current momentum, along with a recent report published by the Scottish Science Advisory Council highlighting future opportunities in this area.
This event will reflect on some of the core themes outlined in the report and consider opportunities to support development in the sector. Using the evidence to design forward-looking policies – from new technologies to skills development needs – will ensure Scotland is positioned for long-term success.
