The MeyGen Project – The tide of change in Caithness

4 March 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Free

The MeyGen tidal stream project is at the forefront of world marine energy development and will harvest the tidal resource of one of the most energetic sites in Europe.

The proposed array of tidal energy devices will be located in the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth
between the Scottish mainland and the island of Stroma, 2km from the coast of Caithness.

MeyGen has an overall goal to deliver a fully operational renewable energy plant of almost 400MW powered purely by the tide.

Phase 1A of the project is scheduled for installation during 2015 with first power targeted for 2016.
