The Road Ahead Lecture 2015 with Bob Keiller, CEO of Wood Group

18 May 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:25 pm

Free

Bob Keiller

Bob Keiller, Chief Executive Officer of Wood Group plc, will deliver the Road Ahead Lecture 2015. Bob, who is known for his participative leadership style and is a sought-after and engaging speaker, will talk about values-based leadership in engineering companies, and much more.

Bob speaks with real passion on his subject: The whole of Wood Group has adopted a common set of values, which prescribes things such as a zero tolerance approach to bribery—sometimes an issue in the markets in which the Company operates. As another example, the interest in values doesn’t entail people wearing kid gloves: Bob says, “As part of our ‘people’ core value we talk about treating people with respect, fairness, openness, honesty and avoiding bullying. You can’t be treating people with respect and be a bully so we have had to remove people because, ultimately, their style was incompatible with the core value that demands that we show each other respect. The more senior it is the more problematic it is.” Bob believes the policy has been instrumental in the group winning some contracts and in recruiting and retaining skilled people in a very competitive market.

Come along at 18:30 and enjoy light refreshments and then hear Bob set out his progressive leadership philosophy, followed by an opportunity for Q & A.

The Road Ahead Lecture is Engineering Scotland’s annual prestige event, kindly hosted once again by the University of Strathclyde.
